Museum Executive Director

The Wayne County Historical Museum (Richmond, Indiana) is seeking an Executive Director with a passion for sharing local history.

• BA required, museum studies, history, or related field preferred
• Formal museum training preferred
• Not for Profit experience required, historical museum experience preferred
• Experience in fund-raising and public relations
• Experience in supervising a capable staff and volunteers
• Experience in the development and implementation of strategic plans
• Knowledgeable about database uses for cataloging, fundraising and public relations
• Knowledgeable about museum use of Excel, Word, websites and social media
• Demonstrates superior communication skills
• Salary commensurate with experience and budget. Benefits to be determined
• Projected starting date is May 1, 2018

The Executive Director:
• is the chief executive of the Wayne County Historical Museum
• reports to the Board of Directors
• is responsible for fund-raising, grant writing and public relations
• supervises a staff of 5 other paid individuals
• establishes, fosters, and maintains partnerships in the Richmond and Wayne County communities.
• works with the Treasurer and Executive Committee to develop and manage the operating budget and the investment of the endowment
• coordinates activities of the 6 Board committees: Collections, Buildings & Grounds, Outreach, Special Events, Transportation and Executive • communicates the Museum’s story to its constituents
• develops and implements the Strategic Plan
